I constructed a giant kaleidoscope using mostly scrap materials found in my garage. The body is made of five large blown glass cylinders. Inside are three 26 inch long mirrors that were left over from a bathroom cabinet installation . They are arranged in an equilateral triangular formation to produce the internal reflections that create the beautiful patterns seen when gazing through the eye hole at the top. The patterns change when the crank is turned, rotating the platform at the bottom that holds randomly placed objects. The kaleidoscope is on display at my booth whenever it is set up in public, and is quite popular with kids of all ages.
